Our Complete Streets workshop program is in high demand, working with communities from Maine to Hawaii on the policy and process tools needed to create streets that are both safe and welcoming for all modes of travel and for people of all ages and abilities.
In cooperation with the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP), we will train an additional five to seven nationally recognized professionals to join our instructors corps. Two instructors co-teach each of our full-day, highly interactive workshops, one person an expert in engineering and design and the other in policy and planning. Instructors contract directly with APBP or SGA and are paid a flat fee for preparation, instruction and travel.
Our instructors work directly with transportation leaders and staff in client agencies, often developing lasting relationships that can lead to additional consulting work. We highlight our instructors corps on our website and frequently engage them in other coalition initiatives, including reports and other technical assistance efforts. We work with them closely throughout the year to develop and refine materials based on best practices and new research.
Applicants should be enthusiastic about Complete Streets, experienced in developing and implementing multimodal transportation policies and designs, and able to think on their feet and adapt content and teaching styles to meet diverse participant needs.
Full details are available in the announcement. Applications are due on August 20.
