In the above video, Fulton gives a thorough explanation of the connection between the built environment of an area and the fiscal health of the municipality. He discusses the unique set of demographic changes that make smart growth planning an imperative for communities aiming to be economically competitive. Traditional suburban communities like the City of Fairfax will particularly need to gear their planning to attract new residents and save money on infrastructure.
